Our Mission

How We Support Our Community

New Beginnings was created by the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa to manage funds from the federal State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI), supported by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. With oversight from a five-member board, our mission is to expand job opportunities in Rolette County by helping small businesses access funding. We received $2.1 million in late 2023 and aim to fully invest this first round by November 2026, with more funding to follow as goals are met.

Program Information

Supporting Local Growth Through Business Lending Partnerships

How does the program work?

New Beginnings partners with your local bank to help reduce the amount of cash you need up front. Your bank handles the loan and contacts us if support is needed.

Is the program right for me?
Small commercial or agricultural businesses in Rolette County that employ Turtle Mountain tribal members or descendants may be eligible.
How can it help my business?

You can apply for a loan to fund equipment, real estate, construction, or working capital. We help make your loan more achievable by lowering the equity needed.

How do I
participate?

Start by meeting with your bank. If they need help, they’ll contact New Beginnings. You can also reach out to 701-477-3101 for business startup support.
